Joey L. Dowdy’s “WHEN JOY MEETS HEALTH”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 23, 2013 by JJgroove01

A Love Story

One day joy and health, who both had heard so much about each other, finally met in passing. Yet when they met, they realized there was an instant attraction. So joy said, “Health, it’s so nice to meet you.” And then health responded by saying, “Joy, it’s my pleasure; it’s so nice to meet you too.”

Next they both said simultaneously, “I’ve heard so much about you. We must meet again soon.” So they did. However, this time they arranged to keep meeting again, again, and again. Until one day they discovered they simply couldn’t live without each other. They were a perfect match, and an inseparable bond.

Final Outcome: They lived happily ever after.

Well, That’s What Happens “When Joy Meets Health.”

Joey L. Dowdy’s “Abuse Breaks Its Grip!”

This couldn’t be a more talked about and controversial subject matter right now. You know this is BIG , BIG, BIG news when celeb’s like Rihanna, Oprah, Tyler Perry, Monique and “So You Think You Can Dance” judge Mary Murphy are all talking about domestic violence and their abusive past.

“Precious” the Oscar winning movie directed by Lee Daniels helped shed some light upon a much needed to be discussed dark subject. It depicts the trials and tribulations of an obese young teenage African American female, Gabourey Sidible, who had dreams of becoming a leading girl in music videos. Yet she found her dreams were quickly shattered by her demeaning mentally, physically, abusive mother, and sexually abusive father.”
It’s a shocking revelation that far too many people experience on a daily bases. I too know first hand about the twists, and turns, of domestic violence’s gripping hold from my own personal experiences. I remember as a child being repeatedly molested by an older person who forced me to do things that violated my innocence. I too like so many others were afraid to speak out in fear of what others would think about me. I was afraid they wouldn’t believe me.” Actually, I was so confused, and I thought maybe I caused it; I even wondered if there was something wrong with me. I didn’t know who to turn to, or where to go, so sadly, I just buried my feelings. I never talked about it; I just wore the pain.

      Keep On!  Keeping On!

Self Starting is the first step to achievement and Success. And a self starter’s position is not to be taken lightly; it has been said they separate the winners from the whiners, the stiff from the flexible, the complainers from the complimentary, the doer’s from the do not, and the have’s from the have not.

Why? Because you can’t just sit around wishing or waiting for some one to tap you on the shoulder and whisper into your ear saying, “Hello my name is wishful thinking and I am sent here to make all your dreams come true.” And as good as it may sound we all know that it’s not likely to happen unless, “You Make It Happen.”

Sure! I know that during these challenging economically times, especially when there have been some set backs, it can be difficult finding the motivation for moving ahead. But what ever you do, “don’t give up.” You must keep holding and know that NO MATTER how tough the situation looks it is only temporary; and it too shall pass. Don’t worry.

What may seem like a set back could actually end up being an insight into helping you propel forward. However, the secret or key ingredient is keeping a positive mind set no matter how tough things get by knowing that, “What follows the darkness is the light.” Keep believing and everything will work out for your good.  How?

Be encouraged and know that you have the power to change things around simply by shifting your gears (body, mind, spirit) into motion. Yes! Your action steps will initiate the process that will help you develop a strategy and a plan which will give you the upper hand, or better that, the winning hand.

That’s what being a self starter is about. It’s about you taking the reigns and control over your life. I believe if you don’t take charge of your own life and leave it in the hands of someone else take, you might not like the results. There’s an ancient proverb that says, “The journey of a thousand miles starts easily; all you need to do is just take one step forward.”

“Don’t Just Start Your Day Off Right, Keep It Right.” Life doesn’t always present us with our ideal situation in which to live it, and or to pursue our dreams.  But that’s where hunger and having a burning desire for success will keep you motivated, and “Moving Forward.”  You know you can’t always rely on situtions, or on other people for your motivation, sometimes you have to do it yourself by “Keeping Yourself Motivated.”

So why let your day be half full with Worries, Anxiety, and Stress when you can make it a complete day full of inspiration by continually feeding your Body, Mind and Soul. Here are seven of my favorite daily affirmations I’ve composed and pulled up just for you. You can refer to them anytime you need a lift, or personal “Life Boost.” These powerful thoughts will surely help you keep your day and life Active, Alive, and Well.

“Why Just Go Through The Day, “Get Something From The Day!”

“Whatever, Whenever, However, “Just START MOVING!”

“Work Your Plans, Then Relax, Wait,  And Let Your Plans Work For You!”

‎”It Takes No More Effort to Think Negative Than It Does POSITIVE!”

“Your Body is Your Temple so, Fill It Up With The Finest Yet Build It to Last.”

“It’s Not What You Have, It’s What You Become.”

Joey L. Dowdy’s “Sexy Is,”?

Hey guys, lately there’s been so much talk about what makes a person sexy. Should you believe all the hype? Let’s face it; we live in a visual world that is highly controlled by major media outlets like, reality television, music videos, magazines, newspapers, and fashion designers. They all have a huge influence on nearly every aspect of our lives, everything from what we eat, wear, where we live, who we should or shouldn’t date, and what our bodies should or shouldn’t look like.

Yet today the million dollar question still remains, “What is Sexy; is it truly in eye of the bolder, or is it in the hands of the money makers? Can we honestly make unfiltered individual choices about what sexy is and what it really means?

Many media outlet say it’s all about image and having the perfect package. Their emphasis and primary focus usually caters to what’s current, young, and hot! So I ask do we no longer need to be able to think for ourselves. Or have our media outlets taken complete control over what we think sexy should be.

Well, maybe this is a question you might have to decide for yourself. However, here’s a list that I’ve composed of what some adults are saying, “What they think is Sexy.” The results just might surprise you.

Yet the big question here is how many of their answers are similar to your own, and if not, will they rub off? Will it make you think about your own life, or will you just go with the flow and let society/media dictate what it means to you. How can you Develop Your Own Sexiness?

What is Sexy?

Sexy is natural, being yourself.
Sexy is having a nice swagger/walk.
Stronger enough for man but made for a woman.

Sexy is working with what you have.
Sex is an independent woman or man.
Sexy is confidence; having a good attitude.
Sexy is dressing well.
Sexy is a stimulation conversation.

Sexy is flirtatious & fun
Sexy is fore play.
Sexy is sweet and submissive.

Now, What’s Your Definition? Please share!

Joey L. Dowdy’s “See Your Belly, See It Flat!

<Firm, Fit & Flat Plan>

What You Can Do Right Now!

Okay! Let’s face it, something’s we know are mind over matter but when  it comes to belly fat it’s a puzzle. In fact, it’s such a puzzling distraction that it generally leaves us wondering, “where does it come from, and how the hell do we get rid of it?”

Fact:
The average adult American gains about a pound per year. It just keeps creeping up on you until one day it seems you can’t slip on that skirt or fasten those pants so easily any more.

Did you know that fat around your middle is the worst for your health, because it raises the risk of heart disease, diabetes and possibly dementia? It’s true and maybe you’ve heard this before, but how do you let Belly Fat sneak up on you?

Here’s a concept. You sit! You sit! And you sit!
You sit sometimes for hours in your car, at the office, at your home computer, and most people favorite place in front of the television. You some times let an entire day escape you with out even attempting to do any exercise. Then you rely on getting through the day and delivering an energetic peak performance based on how many caffeinated beverages and unhealthy snacks you consume for support.

Next, why move when you can work, e-mail, shop, text, push a button, and talk on the phone without so much as standing up (except to walk to the bathroom, kitchen, or car)? Do you see a problem yet? Yes, today’s ever advancing technology is great but it makes us lazy; we simply want everything quickly and at a hands reach that “moving your limbs is becoming obsolete.”

Fact: This is not good because our bodies were designed to be active.

Research says, “Through evolution, we needed muscle and bone because we spend a lot of time walking around. Now we don’t do so much of that, so were defaulting toward having more fat instead of muscle and bone.” However, you can control the size of fat cells by resorting to eating fewer calories, and exercise can alter the decision of cells to end up as fat.” It’s clear that burning calories is critical. So eating nutritionally along with exercise will help you build muscle and train your body to burn hundreds of calories on its own every week — and that’s when you are not even working out.

Imagine burning fat while you sit at your computer or while you sleep! Yes! This all means a trimmer waist and a trimmer you! Yet, it’s going to take a little time and effort each day to achieve your ultimate results. I wrote in my earlier Fall For Fitness Plan blog that, “Even a short work out is better than none at all.” And I might ad, “That a few controlled crunches a day will help keep the bulge away.” However, the secret really is adapting the right “Belly Shrinking Components.” Here’s a few more.

Perk up Your Posture
Getting a flatter tummy starts with your posture; it’s about having a better awareness as much as it is about eating properly/nutritiously or exercising. By perking up your posture you’ll dramatically improve your appearance, look pounds lighter, and you’ll feel more c ccccccccc <Waist Awareness>
Here are 3 simple exercises you can do.

1. Make it a habit of trying not to slouch over (sit up straight) be aware of your posture. It has great benefits, sitting up straight takes press off your spine and it makes you look leaner, longer and stronger.
*Think lifted& long like a dancer.

2. Try this -Sitting up straight pull your abs in towards your belly button hold for a count of eight then release it slowly. Repeat it 8 -10 times or more.
3. Crunches: When you’re doing crunches always think controlled and isolated, never fast and jerky, while working the ads for achieving maximum results.
*Start with 25 reps then work your way up.

Note: Slow cadence lifting is a method in which the exercises are slowed down to an 8-second count on the lifting and lowering.

*Last but not least ask your self this one question several times doing the day, Are My Abs/Belly Pulled In? *Train Your Tummy & It’ll stay in.
