MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED! USA TODAY 344 Billion Strong, Opps, I Mean Wrong! A USA Today article states that if Americans continue to pack on pounds, obesity will cost the USA about $344 billion in medical-related expenses by 2018, eating up about 21% of health-care spending, says the first analysis to estimate the future medical costs of excess weight. These calculations are based on the projection that by then 43% of American adults may be obese, which is roughly 30 or more pounds over a healthy weight. So if obesity continues to rise at the current rate know that it will cost you more than you imagined. Here’s why. Extra weight increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and many types of cancer, which can be prevented. How so?  It starts with you doing this. You must right the wrong by getting your weight and health in check. Note: I have a number of blogs here that will help. What would happen if your health suddenly failed you?

What would happen if you could no longer go to work, or take care of the people you cared about?

What would happen if you were no longer able to participate in the activities you enjoyed?

Would you then be able to see how precious and fragile your life is?

Would you then be able to see the value, and what role u play on this journey called life?

Hmm, I wonder what would happen.

Joey L. Dowdy’s “U ARE WORTHY!”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 15, 2015 by JJgroove01

Realization! Inspiration! Transformation!

There’s no need to shed another tear, because your help has just arrived.

This is a story of inspiration. She writes.

Wow, “Am I worth it?” I find myself in tears as I type this. I am overwhelmed with sadness at the idea that for so many years I have counted myself unworthy. Unworthy of love, unworthy of health, unworthy… If someone else had approached me and said these words, I would be angry with them. I have to be truthful in that I wear my insecurities on my body. The extra weight reflects the fact that I have counted myself unworthy of the effort to love me for decades.

No wonder the child inside me, feels pain. It’s time to stop looking elsewhere for love and fulfillment by doing for others and accept that it is not selfish or wrong to love, honor, cherish myself and my needs, because I AM WORTH IT! I AM WORTHY! Oh Glory, Alleluia, Lord – I AM WORTHY. And so are you, “U Are Worthy!”

She’s Giving Obesity A High Kick Towards Better Health!”

The Carla Flagg Story A Girl On The Groove!

                         Tip! Time! Take!

I am so excited about presenting this story to you. I’m sure you’ll find it enriching, loaded with knowledge, and inspiring.

                         Tipped The Scales

Here it is. Carla Flagg is a 38 year old African American female Architect with a passion for dance, and a zest for life. But her long tiring work regime, and the fact that she put everyone else’s needs before her own, placed her health and physical fitness needs on a downward spiral. Then one day she realized she had lost her groove. It’s hard to believe this attractive, smart, articulate, and graceful female once tipped the scale at 300lbs. In fact she recalls being successful in all her endeavors except for one, “keeping her weight under control.”  You see, Carla like so many others have spent countless years yo-yoing going up and down the scale; just simply spinning out of control.

                        Take Back Control

Until one day she realized and then said, “I cannot continue living my life this way.”  “I need help; it’s time for a change.”  And change it was. She is now “Taking Center Stage” by getting back the control over her life. Plus she this time is no longer exclusively reconstructing fabulous buildings just for others all over the place. However, now she is ready and committed to rolling out the blue print for her own new look and life.

Here’s another thing. Little did she know that one day her wish, “Child, I need help”, would be her command. Then suddenly opportunity came knocking, and it presented its self in ways that she could have never imagined. That’s when she met me Joey L. Dowdy creator of Joey’s World Dance Groove/Fitness/Entertainment™ and then joined my Groove Fitness Program.

Carla quotes, “I am officially a Girl On the Groove thanks to Joey and his program.” Intrigued? Want more?

Well, check out her amazing article/story and video.  Here’s the link.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 30, 2014 by JJgroove01

You Don’t Have to Compromise Your Good Figure, or Your Good Health?

Can you believe the holidays are here again already? It seems like we just had them, don’t you think? Well, maybe that’s a good thing. Why? Because if you are like so many million of people who have good intentions each year not to overeat, or to be more physically active during the holiday, but some how each year you seem to blow it, keep reading.

There’s good news for you. What is it? This year can be different. How can it be? It’s because this time you’re not just wishing, or hoping those things will happen. “You Are Making Them Happen.” The reason is now you have a plan. What kind of a plan? It’s a plan of execution to follow my Great 8 Healthy Holiday Helpings.

These tips will help you to Eat, Drink, and be Very Aware of how to do it without compromising your good figure or your good health. Now, are ready for your helpings?

Helping #1. Don’t starve yourself. Don’t go without food all day before eating your big Holiday meal. Eat something continually every three or four hours like (a small piece of fruit, or a few things from the veggie tray, a hand full of nuts, small cup of yogurt, a few whole grain crackers, or a slice of whole grain bread.

Helping #2. Eat Breakfast. It’s simple; it will fuel your body and make you less hungry later.

Helping #3. Put everything on one plate. It will make you more aware of what, and how much you’re eating. The goal is to try not to go back for seconds.

Remember: Portion side is the key; it’ll help you prevent over doing it. *Here’s another important point. Sure, it’s okay to have some turkey and dressing but also make sure you load up on fruits and veggies. Why? They will make you feel full, as well as provide your body with the desired nutrients it needs.

Helping #4. Eat slowly. It’s a great way to help you savor all the good food combinations, and it too will help you eat less.

Helping #5. Stay active. Can I say, it’s the perfect way to keep your body in motion. So why not indulge in a good old fashion snow ball fight, or be daring and head on out to practice your skate boarding/roller blading skills.

Helping #6. Dance UP A Storm, the holiday’s are the perfect time to get together with your family, or friends, and put on your favorites tunes. Then show off your hot new dance moves, or perhaps have a dance contest! Know that it’s a great way to exercise, a cool way to work up a sweat, and to work off a few calories.

Helping # 7. Get Some REST. It’s no secret, we all know what getting enough (6, 7 hrs) of some good old happy shut eye will do. Doing so will make you feel more refreshed, and energized for all the festivities you’ll be encountering.

Helping # 8. Group Up. Why not go the extra mile? Group up and give each other a nice back message. It’s a fun way to start, or to end, a day full of continuous mayhem.

Enjoy your Happy Holiday Helpings!
