An Excerpt from New Book “Get Up & Groove: Step Into Greatness! Perform!”

It’s said that the brain, unlike the body, reaches a maturity level at an early age. Most statistics say it’s before the age of eight years old. Which you must admit is quite astounding. Another captivating thing is how the brain is also recognized as The Great Recorder. Meaning, it’s known to keep a permanent record of everything we think, see, hear, feel, smell or touch. Now here’s the thing. It’s so cool to know that everything it conceives is kept in a safe place like a mental storage. Yet it makes you wonder if that’s always a good thing. Here’s why I’m saying this. It’s because sometimes there are things you’d like to have depart, leave; or be relinquished from your mind. Such as one particular incident that happened to me early on.

 Spin Out of Control!

It was a reaction I had to a public service announcement or slogan that I heard on the radio, entitled “A mind is a terrible thing to waste” supporting the United Negro College Fund. Somehow hearing this message had a dramatic effect on me. How so? It captured my attention, and made the wheels of my mind spin out of control every time it aired. In fact, it annoyingly got under my skin. Each time I heard

it, it gave me a creepy feeling, as well as a deep sense of

conviction. It felt like the UNCF was spying on me; like they knew something about me that I didn’t. And boy, I was starting to feel the discomfort through every fiber of my being. It was like their commercial was purposely being directed towards me. It was as though they were “Playing Games with My Mind.”

However, here’s the trick: let the truth be told, they were.

How did they? You’ll be shocked to know, so Read ON!”>Choreographer Instructor Fitness</a>
