Sharp Noise! Quick Movement! Excessive Force!

An Excerpt from New Book “Get Up & Groove!” Book 2 (Raw Material) 

                             PT 2.

These were signature moves that made not just his spectators eventually snap to it, and be tempted to shake a tail feather, but it seemed like the whole earth shook with excitement. Here’s what else I found that was unique. Every time he landed his feet would hit a couple of pieces of ply wood that he laid down on the hard brick payment to dance on. The fact is he carried them and his boom box around with him to every stop he made. One might say he possibly did this to protect or try to cushion his feet from the abrupt impact.

 Intriguing but,

However, I think the real purpose was more so for the thunderous sound effect it made. In which you could hear from blocks away every time he torn into one of his rowdy hard core; and fierce like a gypsy style routines. Yet here’s the thing, his fierce aggressive non-stop dancing was intriguing but, it wasn’t what really grabbed my attention. It was something else.  What was it? Aggressive! Profound! Intense!

An Excerpt from  “Get Up & Groove!” Book 2 (Raw Material) 

Command Attention

I met my friend Eli, a Hispanic male, about 12 years ago in Los Angeles.  I first saw him on a street corner performing a wild unruly, and rather sizzling hot, flamenco dance routine. I loved how it kept the nearby spectators, enthused, intrigued, aroused and in awe. Yet the most unusual thing was how he commanded the attention of his audience. He did so by letting his feet do the talking. As they were red hot and on fire; and also dressed in a pair of flamenco shoes fashioned with thick hard heels. His feet were like an instrument, a keyboard, and he used them to play interesting sounds and rhythms that seemed to seduce anyone who dared to stop and listen.

Stomp Loudly

However, the funny thing is it was a crisp winter’s night and you would have thought you were standing among a crowd of popsicles; not people. It’s because many were standing there frozen stiff; as though they were being engaged in a charming little spell that gypsy boy had just conjured up. As he was hard at work and there was no stopping him now. He was moving in full force stomping the ground hard, and I mean really hard; often coming down landing on two flat feet.

Hey guys, lately there’s been so much talk about what makes a person sexy. Should you believe all the hype? Let’s face it; we live in a visual world that is highly controlled by major media outlets like, reality television, music videos, magazines, newspapers, and fashion designers. They all have a huge influence on nearly every aspect of our lives, everything from what we eat, wear, where we live, who we should or shouldn’t date, and what our bodies should or shouldn’t look like.

Yet today the million dollar question still remains, “What is Sexy; is it truly in eye of the bolder, or is it in the hands of the money makers? Can we honestly make unfiltered individual choices about what sexy is and what it really means?

Many media outlet say it’s all about image and having the perfect package. Their emphasis and primary focus usually caters to what’s current, young, and hot! So I ask do we no longer need to be able to think for ourselves. Or have our media outlets taken complete control over what we think sexy should be.

Well, maybe this is a question you might have to decide for yourself. However, here’s a list that I’ve composed of what some adults are saying, “What they think is Sexy.” The results just might surprise you.

Yet the big question here is how many of their answers are similar to your own, and if not, will they rub off? Will it make you think about your own life, or will you just go with the flow and let society/media dictate what it means to you. How can you Develop Your Own Sexiness?

What is Sexy?

Sexy is natural, being yourself.
Sexy is having a nice swagger/walk.
Stronger enough for man but made for a woman.

Sexy is working with what you have.
Sex is an independent woman or man.
Sexy is confidence; having a good attitude.
Sexy is dressing well.
Sexy is a stimulation conversation.

Sexy is flirtatious & fun
Sexy is fore play.
Sexy is sweet and submissive.

The holidays are almost upon us and with a storm of Television Dance shows rocking the airways you don’t want to be stuck with the same old moves for this year’s holiday festivities. Now is the time to get started. It’s time to Dust Off Those Dancing Shoe and Get A New Groove.” Who knows? Maybe dance beneficial effects will even help you shed a few pounds before the New Year arrives.”

Why Dance? It’s Freedom, Festive & Fun! And it has so many great benefits. Hate to exercise? Well, once you get carried away by ballet or mesmerized by the meringue, you won’t even notice you’re doing the equivalent of running a ten minute mile. Here How, Four Dance Styles Shape Up!

1. Afro-Latino (Caribbean) It consist of movements with lots crouching, bending of the knees, requires a loose head, arching of the back, and gathering undulating arms movements, often done to live drumming.

Great For Toning
It works the thighs (all that squatting), arms, butt, and legs.

Soul Boost
You’ll let go of inhibitions and feel a communal connection with your authentic self, and the entire group.

Caveat ( Be Warned)The aerobic intensity might be discouraging at first, but hang in there you’ll be hooked!

2. Ballet
Is a precise, structured
series of turned-out knee bends (plies), leg and arm extensions, fast foot work, jumps and leaps that emphasize an erect body and flexible straight.

It’s great for the upper torso, calves, thighs, and butt thanks to all the lifting and turned-out leg positions. They
become beautiful sculpted.

There’s no swiveling of the hips or shoulders, so if you’re looking to get down, this may not be your better choice.

3. Hip –Hop
Hip hop provides street wise moves to a funky, syncopated beat, involving isolated upper body and hand moves, punches, kicks, shoulders, rib, and hip gyrations linked together.

The thigh, hips, and butts.

You’ll leave class feeling energized, powerful, with a new strut in your walk.

Caveat ( Be Warned) Its fast moves and counter-intuitive beats can take a while to pick up. But you’ll feel proud when you do.

4. Latin
A variety of dances including the meringue, salsa, tango, and mambo, with lots of complex footwork and hip rotations, usually done with a partner, but some gyms & dance centers offer latin inspired solo workouts.
